Los Angeles @ San Francisco preview

AT&T Park

Last Meeting ( Jun 11, 2016 ) LA Dodgers 4, San Francisco 5

San Francisco Giants starter Jake Peavy aims for his 150th career victory Sunday at AT&T Park as he takes the mound against 19-year-old Los Angeles Dodgers rookie Julio Urias, who is seeking his first win following three promising outings. The left-handed Urias was bumped up a day in the rotation to face the Giants, whose lineup is dominated by left-handed hitters such as Brandon Crawford, Denard Span and Brandon Belt.

The Dodgers fell to 4-12 in their last 16 games at AT&T Park on Saturday as Buster Posey delivered a walk-off RBI single off closer Kenley Jansen to give the Giants a 5-4 win in 10 innings. The victory did not come easy for San Francisco, which squandered two leads and used eight relievers before moving four games ahead of the second-place Dodgers in the National League West. Giants closer Santiago Casilla allowed a game-winning homer to Justin Turner in Friday’s 3-2 loss but received a vote of confidence from manager Bruce Bochy after the game and tossed a scoreless ninth inning in Saturday’s contest. The Dodgers are looking for a power surge from first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, who belted his sixth home run on Saturday and is 7-for-26 with three homers in his career against Peavy.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Julio Urias (0-1, 6.94 ERA) vs. Giants RH Jake Peavy (2-6, 6.41)

Urias struck out seven over four innings and threw a career-high 86 pitches on Tuesday against Colorado while yielding one run on three hits. The encouraging performance was a step forward after Urias allowed 13 hits and eight earned runs in his first two starts covering 7 2/3 innings. “I know and believe that if he pitches well and does what he can do, and executes, which he has done better in each start, he can get anybody out,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters.

Peavy failed to protect a 3-1 lead and allowed four runs while striking out five over five frames in last Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals. The outing marked a minor setback for the 35-year-old, who had permitted one run and seven hits in his previous two starts covering 13 2/3 innings. Chase Utley is 1-for-17 against Peavy, who is 14-3 with a 2.50 ERA in 30 career starts against the Dodgers but yielded four runs and 10 hits in five innings in his first start of the season on April 7.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Giants are 23-13 against NL West opponents compared to 14-13 outside the division.

2. Dodgers LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu will restart his minor-league rehab assignment with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday.

3. San Francisco is 13-9 against left-handed starters.

PREDICTION: Giants 7, Dodgers 5

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
