New York @ New York preview
Citi Field
Last Meeting ( May 27, 2013 ) NY Yankees 1, NY Mets 2
The New York Yankees will get their first look at New York Mets standout Matt Harvey when the teams square off Tuesday in the second of two meetings at Citi Field between the crosstown rivals. Harvey's dominant young career has included two matchups with American League teams, during which he allowed one run on three hits while striking out 18 in 17 innings, but he has yet to pitch in the Subway Series. The Yankees have dominated the series over the years but the Mets were able to rally for a 2-1 victory in the series opener. Daniel Murphy, who was robbed of a two-run homer by center fielder Brett Gardner in the sixth, delivered the tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth as the Mets improved to 37-54 all-time against their rivals from the Bronx. After Tuesday's encounter, the teams transition to Yankee Stadium for two more Wednesday and Thursday.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Hiroki Kuroda (6-3, 2.67 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (5-0, 1.93)
Kuroda left his last start in Baltimore in the third inning after getting hit on the leg with a comebacker the previous inning. He stayed in the game for a few batters after the incident, but the calf tightened up on Kuroda, who was not having a very good outing anyway. He ended up being charged with five runs in two-plus innings in a 6-3 loss to the Orioles. Kuroda surrendered a season-high eight hits in the shortened outing. He had posted seven straight quality starts and dipped his ERA below 2.00 before the rocky appearance.
There figured to be some sort of market correction for Harvey after such a phenomenal start to his second season in the majors. He may be in the midst of that period, posting a respectable but much more ordinary 3.48 ERA in his last three starts. The righty surrendered a season-high four runs on a season-high nine hits and a season high-tying three walks in a 7-4 loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday. It was only the second non-quality start in 10 appearances for Harvey.
WALK-OFFS
1. Mets 3B David Wright hit his ninth regular-season home run against the Yankees on Monday, the most ever for a Met in the Subway Series. He had been tied with Mike Piazza and Cliff Floyd.
2. Kuroda is 0-3 with a 6.19 ERA in three career starts at Citi Field.
3. Mets 3B Ike Davis was 0-for-3 with three strikeouts Monday. He has 28 strikeouts in 70 at-bats in May.
PREDICTION: Mets 4, Yankees 3
