Last Meeting ( Mar 15, 2013 ) Chi. Cubs 3, Chi. White Sox 15

The Chicago White Sox will try to keep up their recent surge while the Chicago Cubs hope to build some much-needed momentum when the crosstown rivals meet for four days of interleague play beginning Monday. The teams will start with two games on the South Side before shifting the series to Wrigley Field on Wednesday and Thursday. The White Sox have won nine of their last 12 after finishing a three-game sweep of Miami on Sunday.

The Cubs have a chance to tally consecutive wins for the first time in nearly two weeks after they rallied to snap a six-game losing streak Sunday at Cincinnati, winning 5-4 in 10 innings after trailing 4-0. The White Sox have won the season series the past four years and the teams split six games in 2008. The Cubs last claimed the Crosstown Cup in 2007 and have done so only three times since interleague play began in 1997.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Jeff Samardzija (2-6, 3.25 ERA) vs. White Sox LH Jose Quintana (3-1, 3.48)

Samardzija took another tough-luck loss his last time out, as he held Pittsburgh to one run on three hits over seven innings but was on the wrong end of a 1-0 shutout. He has only two wins despite six quality starts in 10 outings. Samardzija is 0-2 with a 3.27 ERA in four appearances against the White Sox and lost his only start against them.

Quintana was outstanding in his last start, taking a no-hitter into the seventh before allowing three hits and exiting with one out in the inning. It was his first win since April 24 but his third start this season in which he has not allowed a run. Quintana has never faced the Cubs.

WALK-OFFS

1. White Sox slugger Adam Dunn, who snapped an 0-for-17 skid with a homer Sunday, has six home runs and 15 RBIs over his past 12 games.

2. Cubs LF Alfonso Soriano has four homers and 16 RBIs in May after recording only one home run and two RBIs in April.

3. White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez is hitting .351 over his past 14 contests with six multi-hit games during that span.

PREDICTION: White Sox 3, Cubs 2

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
