Jose Bautista looks to wrap up a hot month with the bat in style when the Toronto Blue Jays open a three-game road series against the San Diego Padres on Friday. Bautista is batting .361 in May and has reached base an American League-leading 58 times to raise his season average to .291. Bautista typically struggles against the Padres. He has a .190 career average in 63 at-bats against San Diego, including a .163 mark at Petco Park.

San Diego's Jedd Gyorko has six homers in May to tie the franchise record for most blasts in single month by a rookie. The mark also is shared by Nate Colbert (September 1969), Benito Santiago (August 1987) and current outfielder Will Venable (August 2009). The Padres have lost six of nine games after falling to Seattle on Thursday. The Blue Jays were hammered by Atlanta on Thursday, giving them a split of the four games between the teams this week. Toronto's Melky Cabrera is batting .333 with 10 multi-hit games in May.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
