Last Meeting ( May 29, 2013 ) NY Mets 9, NY Yankees 4

The New York Yankees have pretty much had their way against the New York Mets in recent years, particularly at Yankee Stadium. The script has been reversed in this year's edition of the Subway Series, with the Mets seeking a fifth straight victory and fourth in a row over the Yankees on Thursday night. The Mets won each of the first two games at home by identical 2-1 scores before putting up their highest run total since mid-April in mauling the Yankees 9-4 on Wednesday.

The Yankees had won five straight against the Mets on their home field before Wednesday's beating, which extended their season-worst losing streak to four games. The Yankees have put up only nine runs during the four-game skid and look to be feeling the effects of the injuries that have ravaged their star-studded lineup. Left-hander Vidal Nuno will make his third career start on Thursday as the Yankees attempt to avoid a four-game sweep in the home-and-home series.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Dillon Gee (2-6, 6.34 ERA) vs. Yankees LH Vidal Nuno (1-1, 1.93)

The Mets' starting rotation has delivered a string of solid outings of late but the one notable exception has been Gee. His winless streak reached four starts last time out when he was tagged for five runs in five innings in a 6-0 loss to Atlanta. It marked the fifth consecutive start in which Gee has failed to go past five innings. His longest outing was 6 1/3 innings in his season debut and he has pitched six innings only once in nine subsequent starts.

Nuno will be making his first start at Yankee Stadium. He limited Tampa Bay to two runs in six innings last time out and blanked Cleveland on three hits over five frames on May 13. The 25-year-old San Diego native certainly is not overpowering, registering seven strikeouts versus four walks in 14 innings spanning four appearances. He made his major-league debut in relief at Yankee Stadium on April 29 and allowed four hits in three scoreless innings against Houston.

WALK-OFFS

1. Gee is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees.

2. Nuno has surrendered only one homer - a walk-off blast in Baltimore on May 21.

3. The Mets improved to 39-54 overall against the Yankees and 4-9 at the new Yankee Stadium.

PREDICTION: Yankees 4, Mets 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
