The Oakland Athletics attempt to complete a sweep of their four-game, home-and-home series against one of the top clubs in the National League when they host the San Francisco Giants on Thursday for the finale of their interleague set. Oakland, which sits in fourth place in the American League West, won a pair of contests in San Francisco to conclude a 5-1 road trip before rolling to a 7-1 home victory over the Giants on Wednesday.

Coco Crisp continues to wield a hot bat as he went 2-for-4 in the triumph to extend his hitting streak to seven games, a stretch during which he has gone 10-for-25 with nine RBIs and 11 runs scored. San Francisco hopes to avoid its longest slide since losing five games in a row from May 17-21. Angel Pagan went 0-for-3 on Wednesday, ending a nine-game hitting streak during which he went 15-for-37 with 11 RBIs. The Giants may forego using a designated hitter Thursday and opt for ace Madison Bumgarner, who has hit two of his 13 career home runs this season.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants LH Madison Bumgarner (8-4, 1.99 ERA) vs. Athletics LH Dillon Overton (1-0, 4.76)

Bumgarner is looking to avoid his first three-game slide of the season as he has lost back-to-back starts at Pittsburgh and versus Philadelphia despite allowing a total of four runs in 14 1/3 innings. The 26-year-old native of North Carolina, who has thrown at least 100 pitches in 12 straight starts, has yielded more than two earned runs only three times in 16 outings this year and once in his last 13 turns - Saturday against the Phillies. Bumgarner has had his difficulties with Oakland over his career, surrendering 15 runs and 30 hits over 26 2/3 frames for a 5.06 ERA while going 2-2 in four starts.

Overton will be making his first start at home after notching a road victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday in his major-league debut. The 24-year-old from Oklahoma worked 5 2/3 innings, yielding three runs and seven hits - three homers - while walking two and striking out three. Prior to joining Oakland, Overton posted an 8-4 record with one complete game and a 3.01 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) with Triple-A Nashville.

WALK-OFFS

1. Athletics OF Khris Davis was a late scratch Wednesday due to a bruised left shoulder and is day-to-day.

2. San Francisco placed 2B Joe Panik on the seven-day concussion list and purchased the contract of INF Ruben Tejada - who went 0-for-4 on Wednesday - from Triple-A Sacramento.

3. Oakland has scored at least six runs in each of its last six games, producing a total of 48 in that span.
