San Diego @ Colorado preview
Coors Field
Last Meeting ( Jun 8, 2013 ) San Diego 4, Colorado 2
Offense has not been much of a concern for the San Diego Padres on their current seven-game road trip, which will conclude Sunday with the finale of a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies. The Padres opened the trip with a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers but have piled up 32 runs over the next five games. Everth Cabrera is in the midst of a torrid stretch, notching eight multi-hit performances during a nine-game hitting streak.
The Rockies won the first six meetings with San Diego in April but have lost two of three in this series and haven't had a starting pitcher go beyond 5 1/3 innings. Colorado squandered a bevy of scoring chances in Saturday's 4-2 loss, putting a runner on third base in seven of the nine innings. Carlos Gonzalez, who left Friday's game with a knee strain, was back in the lineup Saturday and went hitless in four at-bats.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Clayton Richard (1-5, 8.38 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Juan Nicasio (4-2, 4.76)
Richard's only victory was a two-inning relief stint on May 31 against Toronto. He was lit up for six runs in 4 1/3 innings by the Dodgers last time out, marking the fifth consecutive start in which he has permitted at least five earned runs. Richard has been torched by the long ball, allowing eight homers in his last four outings and 12 overall in 38 2/3 innings.
Nicasio matched his season high with six innings last time out in Cincinnati, failing to factor in the decision after giving up three runs on five hits. The Rockies have scored five runs in each of Nicasio's last four starts, but he has only one win in that span. Nicasio has made three career starts against San Diego, compiling a 2-0 mark and a 3.26 ERA.
WALK-OFFS
1. Cabrera is 21-for-43 during his nine-game streak and is the first San Diego player with six straight multi-hit games since Edgar Gonzales (2008).
2. Troy Tulowitzki has tormented Richard, going 8-for-17 with three homers and 10 RBIs.
3. Padres 3B Chase Headley is 6-for-9 with a pair of homers against Nicasio.
