Last Meeting ( Jun 8, 2013 ) Philadelphia 3, Milwaukee 4

The Milwaukee Brewers have not done a lot of winning lately, but they seem to have the Philadelphia Phillies’ number. The Brewers will be looking to take a series from the Phillies for the second straight weekend when they host the finale of a four-game set on Sunday. Milwaukee is 4-2 against Philadelphia and 6-24 against every other team since May 1.

The Phillies squandered a lead in Friday’s 5-4 setback and again in Saturday’s 4-3 loss. Domonic Brown hit his National League-leading 19th home run and drove in three runs on Saturday and the top three hitters in the Philadelphia lineup went 7-for-12 but could not push any more across. The Brewers have their own budding star in Jean Segura, who has broken out of a slump with multiple hits in each of his last two games.

TV: 2:10 p.m. ET, WB17 (Philadelphia), Fox Sports Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Phillies RH Jonathan Pettibone (3-1, 3.40 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Kyle Lohse (1-6, 4.39)

Pettibone recovered from his first major-league loss by holding the Miami Marlins to two runs (one earned) and seven hits over six innings on Tuesday without factoring in the decision. The 22-year-old right-hander has not earned a win in any of his last four turns despite three quality starts in that span. Pettibone has never faced Milwaukee and is 1-0 with a 4.86 ERA in three road starts.

Lohse has gone even longer than Pettibone without notching a victory, posting an 0-5 mark in his last seven starts. The veteran right-hander has not gotten a ton of support but has only completed seven innings once in that span while yielding a total of 11 home runs. Lohse has gone 3-4 with a 3.18 ERA in 12 career starts against Philadelphia and has struggled to retire Ryan Howard (9-for-19 with two home runs).

WALK-OFFS

1. Brewers LF Ryan Braun snapped a seven-game streak without an RBI when he singled in a run on Saturday.

2. Philadelphia had won five straight to pull over .500 before losing the last two to drop to 31-32.

3. Milwaukee RHP Jim Henderson (hamstring) could come off the 15-day DL on Sunday.

PREDICTION: Phillies 4, Brewers 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
