Last Meeting ( Jun 14, 2014 ) Colorado 5, San Francisco 4

The Colorado Rockies, with their first series victory in San Francisco since 2010 secured, try for an improbable three-game sweep Sunday against the Giants. Colorado prevailed 5-4 on Saturday after Brandon Barnes delivered a two-run, inside-the-park homer with two outs in the ninth inning, one day after scoring five runs in the ninth to win 7-4. Both uprisings came against closer Sergio Romo, who has yielded 11 runs in three innings over his last four appearances against the Rockies.

The Rockies, who won consecutive road contests in the same series for only the second time this season, are on their first four-game winning streak since last August. The Giants' Buster Posey drove in a season-high three runs on Saturday - his most since July 12 - but couldn't prevent first-place San Francisco from losing for the fifth time in its last six contests and falling to 35-2 when leading after eight innings. San Francisco's Madison Bumgarner is coming off his first loss in seven decisions as he opposes Juan Nicasio, who yielded career highs in runs (10) and homers (three) in his last turn while being reminded of a horrific injury from his past.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Juan Nicasio (5-5, 5.70 ERA) vs. Giants LH Madison Bumgarner (8-4, 2.67)

Nicasio suffered a fractured skull and broken neck after a line drive by Washington's Ian Desmond struck him in 2011 and he appeared visibly shaken when Justin Upton's liner sailed by his head in Atlanta's 13-10 victory over Colorado on Tuesday. "That was a little too close," Rockies manager Walt Weiss told reporters after the 27-year-old Dominican lost his third straight start while seeing his ERA grow by more than two runs during that span. Nicasio, who is 2-3 with a 4.67 ERA in five road starts this season, is 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA while not yielding a home run in six career outings against San Francisco.

Bumgarner, the National League Pitcher of the Month for May after going 5-0 with a 2.08 ERA, allowed two runs and eight hits in seven innings of a 2-1 loss to Washington on Tuesday - his first setback since April 28 and fifth straight quality start. The 24-year-old North Carolina native is 4-0 with a 2.55 ERA in his last four starts at home and 4-1, 2.06 in seven turns against Colorado at AT&T Park. Bumgarner is 0-1 with a 3.21 ERA in two outings against the Rockies at Coors Field in 2014.

WALK-OFFS

3. Colorado LHP Rex Brothers on Saturday became the 76th pitcher in major league history to strike out the side on nine pitches.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
