Wrigley Field

Last Meeting ( Jun 11, 2013 ) Cincinnati 12, Chi. Cubs 2

The Cincinnati Reds will look to add to the longest winning streak a visiting team has ever posted at Wrigley Field when they try for their 12th consecutive road victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. Cincinnati has claimed the first two contests of the four-game series, continuing its dominance in the friendly confines with a 12-2 victory in which the Reds blasted four home runs Tuesday.

The good vibes on the road haven't only come at Wrigley, as the Reds have won 16 of their last 23 away from home. Former Reds left-hander Travis Wood will try to stop the streak by beating the team that drafted him for the first time - he is 0-2 with a 5.25 ERA in four starts against Cincinnati. The Cubs have dropped seven of nine following a season-best five-game winning streak.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Mike Leake (5-3, 2.93 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Travis Wood (5-4, 2.65)

Leake has been outstanding over the past month, allowing only four earned runs in 32 innings over his last five starts. His worst outing during that stretch came in his last start, as he gave up three runs in five innings in a loss to St. Louis. Leake is 5-2 with a 3.44 ERA in 12 starts against the Cubs.

Wood has recorded quality starts in 11 of his 12 outings, but the one exception came last month against his former team. He allowed five runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Reds on May 25 in Cincinnati but limited them to two runs over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision April 22.

WALK-OFFS

1. Reds 3B Todd Frazier, who snapped a streak of 153 plate appearances without a home run with a solo shot Tuesday, is 5-for-10 with a homer against Wood.

2. Chicago 1B Anthony Rizzo has reached base in a career-best 15 straight games. Rizzo is 6-for-11 against Leake.

3. Cubs SS Starlin Castro, who is 3-for-40 over his past 11 games, is 12-for-35 with four extra-base hits against Leake.

PREDICTION: Reds 5, Cubs 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
