Hisashi Iwakuma seeks to beat Oakland for the third time this season when the Seattle Mariners conclude a three-game series with the host Athletics on Sunday. Iwakuma set the tone for his fine season by defeating Oakland in his first start of the campaign and then topped the Athletics again on May 10. Oakland's Bartolo Colon has won five consecutive starts and will strive to prevent Seattle from sweeping the series.

The Athletics won 21 of 26 games prior to the start of the three-game set and have dropped their first series since mid-May against the Texas Rangers. Seattle used strong efforts from starters Joe Saunders and Felix Hernandez to win the first two games, and the newly acquired Henry Blanco hit a grand slam in his debut to account for all four runs in Saturday’s contest. Oakland has a two-game lead over Texas in the American League West but is just 3-6 against the Mariners this season.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
