Last Meeting ( Jun 24, 2013 ) Toronto 1, Tampa Bay 4

With their franchise record-tying winning streak now behind them, the Toronto Blue Jays try to start another as they face the host Tampa Bay Rays in the continuation of their three-game series on Tuesday. The Blue Jays saw their 11-game run halted by Rays starter Jeremy Hellickson, who was sensational over seven innings en route to a 4-1 triumph. Tampa Bay sends left-hander Matt Moore to the mound Tuesday in search of his 10th victory.

Of any team in the American League to bring the Blue Jays back to reality, the Rays are the most appropriate choice. They've dominated Toronto over the past five-plus seasons, winning 65 of their last 98 head-to-head meetings. Looking to counter that trend will be Toronto lefty Mark Buehrle, who has been his club's most consistent starter over the past month and is gunning for his first win over Tampa Bay this season.

PITCHING MATCHUP
: Blue Jays LH Mark Buehrle (4-4, 4.60 ERA) vs. Rays LH Matt Moore (9-3, 4.13)

Buehrle had a major hand in Toronto's incredible run, earning back-to-back victories over the Texas Rangers and Colorado Rockies - and looking good in both of them. The 34-year-old posted five consecutive quality starts until running out of steam last time out, when he was charged with two runs on eight hits over five innings in the win over Colorado. Buehrle has a loss and a no-decision against Tampa Bay in 2013 but is 8-3 lifetime with a 4.43 ERA in 109 2/3 innings.

Moore's lightning-fast start has given way to one of the worst stretches of his young career. The 24-year-old began the season with eight straight victories but has had a forgettable June, going 1-3 with an unsightly 10.61 ERA. Moore tossed five strong innings in a 10-4 triumph over the Blue Jays on May 8 and is 2-1 with a 3.33 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 24 1/3 career frames against them.

WALK-OFFS

1. The teams have split their first eight meetings of 2013.

2. Moore has surrendered just one home run in his last seven outings.

3. Two of Buehrle's eight career shutouts - including his July 23, 2009 perfect game - have come against Tampa Bay.

PREDICTION: Rays 5, Blue Jays 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
