Last Meeting ( Jun 22, 2013 ) Oakland 5, Seattle 7

The Oakland Athletics look to avoid their third straight series loss when they face the Seattle Mariners in Sunday’s rubber game. The Athletics have gone 2-4 during their seven-game road trip, dropping back into a tie atop the American League West with Texas. Oakland’s relievers have struggled during the trip, collecting three losses and posting a 6.61 ERA.

Seattle evened the series on Saturday when it scored three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth for a 7-5 comeback win. The Mariners received an instant boost from center fielder Franklin Gutierrez, who homered in his first at-bat after coming off the 60-day disabled list. Rookie second baseman Nick Franklin is having an outstanding series, going 4-for-9 with a home run and six RBIs.

Coco Crisp is 10-for-42 (.238) with one homer against the 30-year-old right-hander, who is 4-3 with a 3.49 ERA in eight career starts against Oakland. Bonderman has not faced the Athletics since 2010, and he’s only seen them twice since 2005.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
