Arizona @ New York preview
Citi Field
Last Meeting ( Jul 1, 2013 ) Arizona 4, NY Mets 5
Josh Satin is making a strong case to remain in the New York Mets' lineup. After collecting three hits - including an RBI single in the ninth inning of the series opener - Satin will look to extend his career-high hitting streak to eight contests on Tuesday as the Mets play the second of four contests against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Andrew Brown ended a wild affair on Monday with a two-run single in the 13th inning as New York rallied for a 5-4 triumph.
While New York posted its 10th win in 16 games, Arizona fell for the seventh time in eight contests overall and ninth in 10 outings on the road. The setbacks are taking their toll in the standings as the Diamondbacks saw their lead in the National League West dip to 1 1/2 games over second-place Colorado. To add injury to insult, outfielder Gerardo Parra exited Monday's tilt in the eighth inning after appearing to injure his head and shoulder while diving for a fly ball. The team said he was removed for precautionary reasons and is questionable for Tuesday.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks LH Patrick Corbin (9-0, 2.22 ERA) vs. Mets RH Jeremy Hefner (2-6, 3.72)
Corbin collected his fifth straight no-decision after yielding just two runs on five hits in seven innings against Washington on Thursday. The 23-year-old New York native has pitched well despite the lack of results - permitting just 10 runs and 25 hits in those outings. Corbin was battered for four runs on five hits in 3 1/3 frames of a loss to the Mets during his rookie season of 2012.
Hefner settled for a no-decision in his last outing despite allowing two runs on five hits in six innings versus Colorado on Thursday. The 27-year-old has lost all three of his decisions in front of the Citi Field faithful but owns a 2.93 ERA while limiting the opposition to a .242 batting average. Hefner has yet to face the Diamondbacks in his young career.
