Turner Field

Last Meeting ( Jun 29, 2013 ) Arizona 5, Atlanta 11

The Atlanta Braves have the best home record in baseball and they'll try to finish off their fifth three-game sweep of the season at Turner Field when they host the Arizona Diamondbacks in the finale of a matchup between division leaders. Atlanta won a wild one Saturday, scoring seven runs in the eighth to rally for an 11-5 victory - the Braves' National League-best 23rd comeback victory. The Diamondbacks have dropped five of their last six.

The Braves have cooled off a bit in June, but they're still 6 1/2 games clear of second-place Washington in the National League East and they're looking to close the month with a flourish. Arizona's cushion in the NL West isn't nearly as large, dwindling to two games over Colorado after the late collapse Saturday. The Diamondbacks have lost seven of their last eight road games and are 21-22 away from home.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks RH Trevor Cahill (3-9, 4.29 ERA) vs. Braves LH Paul Maholm (8-6, 3.75)

Cahill has dropped five straight decisions dating to his last victory May 17 at Miami, and he hasn't made it through six innings in any of his five starts this month. He was tagged for six runs over five innings in a loss at Washington his last time out. Cahill is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in two starts against Atlanta, both last season.

Maholm has been roughed up on the road lately, including his last time out when he allowed four runs over five innings in a win at Milwaukee, but he has a 1.80 ERA in six home starts. One of his biggest problems has been the long ball, as he has allowed 10 home runs, including one in each of his last six starts. Maholm is 1-3 with a 4.62 ERA in seven career starts against Arizona.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Diamondbacks have collected at least one extra-base hit in 64 consecutive games, the longest streak in the majors this season.

2. The Braves are 43-9 in games in which they hit a home run and 4-25 when they don't go deep.

3. Arizona's Martin Prado, a former Atlanta player, is 8-for-17 with two doubles against Maholm.

PREDICTION: Braves 6, Diamondbacks 4

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
