Baltimore @ Chicago preview

Guaranteed Rate Field

Last Meeting ( Jul 2, 2013 ) Baltimore 2, Chi. White Sox 5

With their losing streak behind them, the Chicago White Sox look to post consecutive wins for the first time in nearly two weeks Wednesday, when they host the Baltimore Orioles in the middle contest of their three-game series. Chicago snapped a five-game skid with a 5-2 triumph in Tuesday's series opener as Conor Gillaspie and Adam Dunn homered to back a strong effort by John Danks. Dunn's blast was the 428th of his career, moving him past Mike Piazza for 45th place on the all-time list.

The White Sox, who haven't won back-to-back games since June 21-22 at Kansas City, improved to 2-5 on their nine-game homestand. Baltimore had its four-game win streak come to an end as Jason Hammel saw his winless stretch reach six starts. The Orioles' first run came on a solo homer by Brian Roberts, who was playing in just his 22nd game since May 16, 2011 due to injuries.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH Scott Feldman (NR) vs. White Sox LH Hector Santiago (3-5, 3.59 ERA)

Feldman returns to the American League after going 7-6 with a 3.46 ERA in 15 starts for the Chicago Cubs, who traded him to Baltimore on Tuesday. The 30-year-old has not pitched since last Wednesday, when he allowed three runs over six innings in a victory at Milwaukee. Feldman, who spent the first eight years of his career in the AL with Texas, is 4-2 with a 4.20 ERA in 14 career games (eight starts) against the White Sox.

Santiago will be making his 10th start of the season. The 25-year-old lasted only 2 1/3 innings in his outing against the Cleveland Indians on Friday, when he surrendered five runs on seven hits and three walks. Santiago has made two career relief appearances against the Orioles, yielding two runs in two innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. LHP Wei-Yin Chen (left oblique) is scheduled to make what the Orioles hope is his final rehab start for Double-A Bowie on Thursday.

2. Chicago's Paul Konerko returned to the lineup Tuesday after missing six games with a sore back and went 0-for-4 as the designated hitter.

3. Baltimore OF Nolan Reimold (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday and went 1-for-3 while starting in left field.

PREDICTION: Orioles 5, White Sox 1

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
