Colorado @ Chicago preview

Wrigley Field

Last Meeting ( Jul 28, 2014 ) Colorado 1, Chi. Cubs 4

The Chicago Cubs sent Colorado into the National League cellar, and the Rockies will try to return the favor when the teams continue their four-game series Tuesday at Wrigley Field. Chicago's 4-1 win in the opener moved the Cubs one-half game ahead of the Rockies, who have dropped seven of 10 since the All-Star break. It was only the third win in 12 games for the Cubs, who are 23-26 at home.

Colorado has been dreadful away from home, owning the majors' worst road mark at 16-34 after losing 13 of its last 14 outside Coors Field. Jorge De La Rosa feels right at home at Wrigley Field, however, owning a 2-0 record and 0.68 ERA in one start and four relief appearances there. Cubs stars Starlin Castro (3-for-13) and All-Star Anthony Rizzo (0-for-4) haven't had much success against De La Rosa.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Jorge De La Rosa (11-6, 4.19 ERA) vs. Cubs RH Edwin Jackson (5-11, 5.76)

De La Rosa has won five straight decisions and recorded four straight quality starts. The 33-year-old was able to bear down in big situations in Wednesday's win over Washington, as the Nationals went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position. De La Rosa is 4-0 with a 1.96 ERA in nine games (five starts) versus the Cubs.

Jackson exited early because of cramps in his hand Thursday against San Diego, which tagged him for five runs in five innings before his departure. The 30-year-old is winless in his last six starts, going 0-4 with a 7.47 ERA over that stretch. Jackson is 1-3 with a 12.66 ERA in eight outings against Colorado.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is 7-for-9 with two doubles and a triple versus Jackson.

2. Castro has gone a career-high 35 games without an error dating to June 18, the longest errorless streak by a Cubs shortstop since Ryan Theriot's 46-game run in 2007.

3. Colorado INF DJ LeMahieu, a former Cubs prospect, is batting .444 during his seven-game hitting streak.

PREDICTION: Rockies 6, Cubs 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
