San Diego @ Milwaukee preview
Miller Park
Last Meeting ( Jul 22, 2013 ) San Diego 5, Milwaukee 3
Ryan Braun’s season is over and the Milwaukee Brewers attempt to move past the distractions his actions have caused when they host the San Diego Padres on Tuesday in the second contest of a four-game set. The 2011 National League Most Valuable Player accepted a season-ending suspension for his alleged involvement with performance-enhancing drugs Monday, 17 months after defiantly expressing his innocence. San Diego snapped Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak later Monday with a 5-3 victory.
Jesus Guzman hit the tiebreaking two-run double for the Padres and also homered in the second inning to snap Milwaukee’s franchise-record, 36-inning scoreless streak. Carlos Quentin delivered a two-run double as San Diego won for only the sixth time in 26 games. Braun avoided a 50-game suspension following his stellar MVP season because of a technicality when an arbitration panel ruled his urine sample wasn’t properly handled and he has again been under scrutiny since reports linked him to the Biogenesis clinic in Florida that was allegedly distributing performance-enhancing drugs.
