Minnesota @ Seattle preview

Safeco Field

Last Meeting ( Jul 26, 2013 ) Minnesota 3, Seattle 2

The Minnesota Twins will look to build off the momentum of an improbable comeback when they visit the Seattle Mariners on Saturday in the third contest of a four-game set. Minnesota tied Friday's game against Felix Hernandez in the ninth inning before rookie Chris Colabello's first major-league home run in the 13th gave the Twins a 3-2 victory. Minnesota will be without Joe Mauer until Tuesday as he remains home with his family after his wife gave birth to twin daughters Wednesday.

Seattle appeared poised to win for the 10th time in its last 11 games before pinch-hitter Trevor Plouffe stunned Hernandez with a one-out RBI bloop single to extend the game. The Mariners, who had won six straight at home over the Twins, received a blow Friday as rookie catcher Mike Zunino was placed on the disabled list with a fractured hamate bone in his left hand and is expected to miss six weeks. Zunino provided the game-winning RBI in Seattle's last three victories.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Samuel Deduno (6-4, 3.50 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Aaron Harang (5-8, 5.06)

Deduno won his last two starts, including a 4-3 road victory against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday in which he yielded two runs, four hits and five walks over seven innings. The 30-year-old, who will be making his fourth straight start on the road, is 3-3 with a 4.25 ERA in seven outings away from Target Field. Deduno is 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in two career starts against Seattle - both in 2012 - but the Mariners have only five players on their roster who have faced him.

Harang is coming off a 2-1 victory over Cleveland on Monday, when he allowed one run and four hits in seven innings for his third quality start in his last four outings. The 35-year-old bounced back from an 11-4 loss to Boston on July 10 in which he yielded seven runs, eight hits and three walks over five frames. Harang received a no-decision after permitting two runs (one earned) and four hits in six innings of a 5-4 loss at Minnesota on June 2.

WALK-OFFS

1. To replace Zunino, Seattle signed C Humberto Quintero. The 11-year veteran, who turns 34 on Aug. 2, was designated for assignment by Philadelphia on Wednesday.

2. Colabello is hitting .150 with 15 strikeouts in 40 at-bats after 14 major-league games.

3. Saturday's start time was moved up to assist the city of Seattle with its Seafair Torchlight Parade. Since the new time falls inside Fox's national television window and the network decided not to make a late addition to its lineup, it only will be shown on MLB.tv.

Mariners 3, Twins 2

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
