Last Meeting ( Jul 23, 2013 ) San Francisco 5, Cincinnati 3

The San Francisco Giants are scoreboard-watching in July, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are to blame. The fourth-place Giants are 6 1/2 games behind the National League West-leading Dodgers heading into Wednesday’s series finale against the visiting Cincinnati Reds, who have won five of their last seven. While the surging Dodgers have captured 22 of their last 27 contests, the Giants are struggling to keep pace after losing 18 of their last 26.

Cincinnati sits in third place in the NL Central, five games behind St. Louis. The Reds won their first five meetings with San Francisco by a 34-6 margin before losing the nightcap of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Cincinnati punished starting pitchers Tim Lincecum, Eric Surkamp and Barry Zito in the first three games of the series, but they’ve failed to score in 16 innings against the Giants’ bullpen.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
