Last Meeting ( Jun 16, 2013 ) Arizona 1, San Diego 4

The Arizona Diamondbacks continue their homestand Friday when they welcome the San Diego Padres for the first of three games. Arizona opened the homestand by splitting four games with the Chicago Cubs, capped by a 3-1 win Thursday night. Wade Miley went 7 2/3 innings and Aaron Hill broke out of a slump with a solo home run and an RBI double for the Diamondbacks.

Arizona was swept in San Diego in mid-June, scoring just six runs in the process. The Padres followed that up with a 6-20 stretch to fall back in the tightly packed National League West. San Diego may have righted the ship by taking three of four in Milwaukee this week, including a 10-8 triumph Thursday in which the Padres pounded out 16 hits.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Eric Stults (8-8, 3.45 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks RH Randall Delgado (2-3, 3.43)

Since giving up nine earned runs in eight innings in a pair of rough road starts, Stults has regained his form with three straight quality outings. He flashed that form against Arizona on June 14, when he threw a complete-game two-hitter. That start came at home, where Stults has been much better; he is 3-7 with a 4.33 ERA on the road.

Delgado is coming off his first scoreless outing this season, yielding just three hits in 5 2/3 innings at San Francisco on Sunday. However, he walked four and struck out only two after recording 33 punchouts and five free passes in his first seven appearances. The Padres are one of two National League teams Delgado has yet to face.

WALK-OFFS

1. San Diego used six relievers in Thursday's win.

2. Arizona OF Jason Kubel is 3-for-35 in his last 15 games.

3. Padres closer RHP Huston Street has a season-high seven straight scoreless outings.

PREDICTION: Diamondbacks 4, Padres 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
