The Arizona Diamondbacks were clicking on all cylinders as they kicked off their three-game set against the National League West-rival San Diego Padres with a convincing victory. Arizona looks to clinch a series victory when it hosts San Diego in the middle contest Saturday. Randall Delgado tossed a three-hit shutout Friday while registering two of the 17 hits by the Diamondbacks, who remained one-half game behind the division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

Aaron Hill had a pair of RBI doubles before leaving with tightness in his right hamstring as Arizona improved to 3-2 on its seven-game homestand. San Diego, which is 4-4 on its 10-game road trip, opened Friday's contest with a single and recorded its third and final hit with two outs in the ninth inning. The Padres are 1-2 over their last three games, scoring 10 runs in the victory and a total of one in the losses.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres RH Andrew Cashner (6-5, 3.84 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Tyler Skaggs (2-2, 4.11)

Cashner snapped a five-start winless streak Monday, allowing three runs and three hits over six innings in a triumph at Milwaukee. The 26-year-old has yielded three runs or fewer in seven of his last eight outings but is just 2-2 over that span. Cashner improved to 2-0 lifetime against the Diamondbacks on May 25 when he gave up four runs over six frames at Arizona.

Skaggs is coming off a home loss to the Chicago Cubs on Monday in which he surrendered three runs in six innings. The 22-year-old has yielded more than three runs only twice in six outings this season. Skaggs made two starts against San Diego last year, going 0-1 while allowing a total of nine runs and 12 hits over eight frames.

2. Cashner has gone eight consecutive starts without allowing a home run.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
