Last Meeting ( Jul 29, 2013 ) Chi. White Sox 2, Cleveland 3

Despite languishing at the bottom of the American League Central, the Chicago White Sox have apparently decided not to trade ace hurler Jake Peavy prior to the July 31 non-waiver deadline. Peavy looks to repay his team's loyalty as he leads the White Sox into the second contest of a three-game series Tuesday night against the host Cleveland Indians. The White Sox have reportedly said they won't move Peavy despite rumors a number of teams are interested in him.

The red-hot Indians aren't in the market for pitching help, thanks in part to a stunning showing from left-hander Scott Kazmir. He'll try to improve on a terrific seven-start stretch as Cleveland brings a five-game winning streak into Tuesday. The Indians rode a walkoff home run from Jason Giambi to a 3-2 victory in Monday's series opener, extending Chicago's skid to four games.

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Jake Peavy (8-4, 4.28 ERA) vs. Indians LH Scott Kazmir (6-4, 3.96)

Peavy has been passable in two starts since returning from a rib fracture that knocked him out of action for six weeks. The 32-year-old followed up a win over Atlanta by overcoming three Detroit home runs over seven innings in a 7-4 triumph over the Tigers. Peavy racked up a season-best 11 strikeouts in a win over the Indians earlier this season and is 5-3 lifetime versus Cleveland with a 3.93 ERA in 73 1/3 innings.

Kazmir's career renaissance reached a higher level last time out as the reclamation project limited Seattle to an unearned run on one hit over eight sensational innings. Kazmir - who had thrown just 1 2/3 major-league innings over the previous two seasons - has surrendered just eight earned runs over his last 45 innings, lowering his ERA nearly two full runs in that span. He is 5-0 with a 3.92 ERA in eight home starts in 2013.

WALK-OFFS

1. Indians 2B Jason Kipnis has two hits in eight career at-bats against Peavy - both home runs.

2. White Sox 1B Paul Konerko is 11-for-24 with two homers and six RBIs lifetime against Kazmir.

3. Cleveland leads the season series 7-2.

PREDICTION: Indians 5, White Sox 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
