Last Meeting ( Jul 30, 2013 ) Toronto 5, Oakland 0
The Toronto Blue Jays attempt to win their second straight series as they visit the American League West-leading Oakland Athletics in the rubber match of their three-game set Wednesday afternoon. Toronto took three of four at home from the Houston Astros before splitting the first two contests in Oakland. Mark Buehrle produced his second straight scoreless effort while Jose Bautista and Emilio Bonifacio homered as the Blue Jays posted a 5-0 victory Tuesday.
Toronto improved to 9-16 this month and 11-21 since posting a franchise-record 11-game win streak in mid-June. The loss ended Oakland's four-game winning streak and reduced its division lead over the Texas Rangers to five games. The Athletics added some pop at second base Tuesday night, acquiring Alberto Callaspo from the Los Angeles Angels for infield prospect Grant Green.
