Last Meeting ( Jul 28, 2013 ) Pittsburgh 2, Miami 3

The Pittsburgh Pirates have the best record in baseball at 67-44, but the young Miami Marlins took two of three from them in late July. The Pirates look for revenge when they host the Marlins, who have the least wins (43) in the National League, in a three-game set beginning Tuesday. Pittsburgh is 6-2 since the series at Miami while taking over first place in the National League Central, led by a pitching staff which boasts the best ERA (3.07) in the majors.

Andrew McCutchen went 6-for-10 in the last three games against Colorado as the Pirates enjoy a two-game lead over second-place St. Louis in the Central. The Marlins are 3-4 since holding Pittsburgh to a pair of runs combined in two wins and have not allowed a homer in a franchise-record 12 games. Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton managed only one hit in his last 22 at-bats.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
