Citi Field

Last Meeting ( Aug 6, 2013 ) Colorado 2, NY Mets 3

The New York Mets' Matt Harvey has already established himself as an elite pitcher - except when he's facing the Miami Marlins. Harvey won't have any fish on his plate Wednesday when New York hosts the Colorado Rockies in the middle contest of a three-game series. Harvey, the National League starting pitcher in the All-Star Game at the Mets' Citi Field, has a 3.52 ERA against Miami this season after Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Marlins - and 1.97 against everyone else.

Harvey will face Jhoulys Chacin, who shut down the National League Central-leading Pirates in his last start to improve to 4-2 with a 1.78 ERA on the road in eight starts. The Mets' Eric Young Jr., playing against his former team for the first time, took a two-run hit away from Todd Helton in the sixth inning and scored the winning run from second base on an infield hit in the eighth as New York prevailed 3-2 in Tuesday's opener. The Rockies fell to 1-7 on their 10-game road trip and are 7-20 in their last 27 away from home.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Jhoulys Chacin (10-5, 3.40 ERA) vs. Mets RH Matt Harvey (8-3, 2.21)

Chacin took a line drive off his throwing arm during the fifth inning of his last start, a 4-2 victory at Pittsburgh on Friday when he yielded one run and six hits in eight innings. The 25-year-old has recorded quality starts in eight of his last nine outings, with the non-quality start a 9-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chacin is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and .156 batting average against in three games (two starts) against the Mets, but has not faced them since last season.

Harvey yielded three runs and five hits while striking out eight in 5 2/3 innings in Miami and has won only once in his last six starts (1-2). Manager Terry Collins said the 24-year-old has about 10 starts left as the Mets try to monitor his innings early in his career after throwing a combined 169 1/3 innings between the minors and majors in 2012. Harvey yielded one run and three hits in six innings and didn't receive a decision in his only start against Colorado in the Mets' 5-2 loss last season.

WALK-OFFS

1. New York's Wilmer Flores went 0-for-4 in his major-league debut while celebrating his 22nd birthday Tuesday. Flores was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas - where he led the Pacific Coast League with 86 RBIs - to take the roster spot of closer Bobby Parnell, who was placed on the disabled hist with a herniated disk in his neck. Flores is expected to play third base while David Wright is on the DL with a hamstring injury.

2. Rockies 1B Todd Helton is hitting .348 against the Mets - the third-highest average against New York among players with at least 350 plate appearances (Derek Jeter, .368; Tony Gwynn, .356).

3. Mets 1B Ike Davis went 2-for-2 on Tuesday - his second multi-hit game in his last four contests - to raise his average to a season-high .195.

PREDICTION:
Mets 3, Rockies 2

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
