Last Meeting ( Aug 6, 2013 ) Miami 3, Pittsburgh 4

The Pittsburgh Pirates are a dominant team at home, tying for the major league lead with 39 wins while belting 45 homers to 24 for their opponents. The Pirates look to keep that going when they host the Miami Marlins on Wednesday in the second contest of a three-game series. Andrew McCutchen has eight hits in his last 13 at-bats with five RBIs over four games, including a pair Tuesday in a 4-3 victory that kept the Pirates two games up on second-place St. Louis in the National League Central.

Josh Harrison’s walk-off blast Tuesday was the first homer that the Marlins surrendered in 13 games and sealed their third consecutive defeat. Logan Morrison leads the Miami offense, collecting 10 hits and six RBIs in the last five games. The Marlins starting pitchers, in the top quarter of the league with a 3.66 ERA, continue to give their team a chance to win.

Morton is 3-3 with a 5.11 ERA in seven career outings versus Miami and Giancarlo Stanton is 4-for-8 against him.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
