Last Meeting ( Aug 13, 2013 ) Philadelphia 1, Atlanta 3

The Atlanta Braves hope eye surgery will help Dan Uggla cut down on his strikeouts as the National League East leaders look toward October. The Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies in the series finale Wednesday, but will be without their second baseman after placing Uggla on the disabled list Tuesday. Uggla, who was diagnosed with astigmatism in spring training but tried to play this season with corrective lenses, leads the National League with 146 strikeouts.

Despite a 3-1 loss in the middle contest of the three-game set Tuesday, the Phillies have an opportunity to win only their second series in eight tries since the All-Star break. Philadelphia is 10-19 against the Braves since the start of the 2012 season and has lost 12 of its past 13 games away from home. Second baseman Chase Utley has five hits in the first two games of the series, including three of Philadelphia’s six hits Tuesday.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
