Milwaukee @ Texas preview

Last Meeting ( Aug 13, 2013 ) Milwaukee 5, Texas 1

After homering three times to put an end to the Texas' Rangers season-high eight-game winning streak, the Milwaukee Brewers look to close out their road trip in style on Wednesday in the finale of their abbreviated two-game interleague series. Scooter Gennett went deep twice and fellow rookie Khris Davis also homered as Milwaukee cruised to a 5-1 triumph on Tuesday. The Brewers improved to 5-3 heading into the final contest of their nine-game trek.

The setback was just the second in 15 contests for Texas, which remained one game ahead of Oakland in the American League West. Mitch Moreland homered to lead off the third inning for the Rangers, who failed to muster at least two runs for the first time since a 6-0 setback to Cleveland on July 28. Texas had averaged 6.1 runs per contest since that stretch prior to Tuesday's loss.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Tyler Thornburg (1-0, 1.72 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Matt Garza (8-2, 3.23)

Thornburg has been splendid during his last three trips to the mound, surrendering one run on 11 hits in 13 innings. The 24-year-old rookie tossed a scoreless inning of relief in a 10-0 victory over Seattle on Saturday. Thornburg, who has yet to face the Rangers in his young career, has not allowed an earned run on the road in 18 frames this season.

Garza yielded four runs in his second consecutive outing but evened his mark at 1-1 with a 9-5 victory over Houston on Friday. The 29-year-old owns a 2-1 mark with a 3.38 ERA in four starts since being acquired from the Chicago Cubs on July 22. Garza has flourished versus the Brewers, posting a 4-1 record with a 1.14 WHIP while holding them to a .221 batting average.

WALK-OFFS

1. Milwaukee 3B Aramis Ramirez (sprained knee) returned from the disabled list Tuesday and went 0-for-3.

2. Texas OF Leonys Martin has registered three multi-hit performances during his seven-game hitting streak.

3. Brewers SS Jean Segura, who had two hits and scored a run on Tuesday, is riding a nine-game hitting streak.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
