Oakland @ Baltimore preview

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Last Meeting ( Aug 24, 2013 ) Oakland 2, Baltimore 1

The Oakland Athletics notched a pivotal victory in the middle contest of a three-game set and attempt to record another when they conclude a series against the host Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. Oakland’s victory allowed it to maintain a 2 1/2-game edge over the Cleveland Indians in the competition for the American League’s second wild card and pushed Baltimore three games back. Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp hit the tiebreaking homer in the ninth in Saturday’s 2-1 victory.

Crisp has homered in three consecutive games and has 13 for the season, three shy of the career-high total he accumulated for Cleveland in 2005. Oakland snapped a three-game losing skid with Saturday’s victory to move within 2 1/2 games of the Texas Rangers in the AL West, while Baltimore has lost seven of its last 11 games and is 5 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay and Boston in the AL East. Orioles slugger Chris Davis is hitless in six at-bats in the series and is batting just .211 in six games against the Athletics this season.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
