Marlins Park

Last Meeting ( Aug 19, 2013 ) LA Dodgers 2, Miami 6

After looking unbeatable for the better part of an amazing 50-game stretch, the Los Angeles Dodgers inexplicably suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since June 20-21. The visiting Dodgers look to end their modest skid on Tuesday, when they play the second contest of a four-game series against the Miami Marlins. Juan Uribe continued his torrid surge with an RBI double among his three hits in Monday's 6-2 setback to Miami.

Despite its recent tumble, Los Angeles still holds a 7 1/2-game lead over Arizona in the National League West. The standings hold lesser importance for the lowly Marlins, who aren't throwing any parades despite winning two in a row and four of six. Logan Morrison ripped a go-ahead RBI double in the sixth inning Monday to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers LH Chris Capuano (4-6, 4.66 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Jacob Turner (3-4, 2.89)

Capuano has had two straight no-decisions despite yielding 10 runs and 20 hits in 9 1/3 innings in those outings. The 35-year-old permitted four runs on 10 hits in five frames against the New York Mets on Wednesday. Capuano picked up the victory in his last start versus Miami, allowing one run and striking out seven in 6 1/3 innings.

Winless since July 10, Turner recorded his third no-decision in four trips to the mound after yielding two runs on four hits in five innings versus Kansas City on Wednesday. The 22-year-old was charged with six walks - marking the seventh straight outing in which he has issued multiple free passes. Turner has fared decidedly better at home, posting a 3-0 mark with a 2.34 ERA while limiting the opposition to a .213 batting average.

WALK-OFFS

1. Miami 2B Donovan Solano had a run-scoring single in the third inning on Monday, giving him 18 RBIs in 23 contests.

2. Cuban OF Yasiel Puig has struggled mightily during the Dodgers' losing "streak" - going 0-for-9 with three strikeouts.

3. Marlins 3B Placido Polanco was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list.

PREDICTION: Dodgers 7, Marlins 2

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
