Last Meeting ( Aug 26, 2013 ) Houston 10, Chi. White Sox 8

Jason Castro will try to continue his breakthrough season when the Houston Astros visit the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday in the middle contest of a three-game series. Castro, fresh off his second American League Player of the Week award, homered and had two hits in Houston's 10-8 victory in Monday's opener. It was the Castro Valley, Calif., native's 18th home run, breaking a 47-year-old single-season team record for catchers - the latest highlight in his first All-Star campaign.

The Astros blew a 6-1 lead before handing the White Sox their second loss in 10 games when Matt Dominguez and Chris Carter belted back-to-back solo home runs with two outs in the ninth inning. The improbable outburst came against Chicago closer Addison Reed, who entered with a 13-inning scoreless streak. Houston rookie Paul Clemens will make his first major-league start after 30 relief appearances and opposes Jose Quintana, who leads the majors with 15 no-decisions.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros RH Paul Clemens (4-4, 6.36 ERA) vs. White Sox LH Jose Quintana (7-4, 3.67)

Clemens went 2-2 with a 4.32 ERA in five starts at Triple-A Oklahoma City since Aug. 1 to prepare for Tuesday. The 25-year-old's last outing didn't provide much confidence, however, as he yielded eight runs (seven earned) and six hits in five innings against Round Rock on Thursday. Clemens' last major-league appearance came July 26 against Toronto, when he allowed six runs and four hits while recording one out to take the loss in the Astros' 12-6 setback.

Quintana received a no-decision after allowing three runs and four hits while striking out seven in seven innings of the White Sox' 4-3 victory at Kansas City on Thursday. The 24-year-old Colombian went 2-1 in his previous three starts, his longest streak of decisions this season. Quintana allowed two runs and five hits while matching a season high with three walks in 4 2/3 innings in Chicago's 4-2 win at Houston on June 17.

WALK-OFFS

1. The series is tied 13-13, but Houston has won four of five meetings this season and nine of the last 12.

2. Houston LF Robbie Grossman went 1-for-5 on Monday to extend his hitting streak to 13 games - longest by an Astro this season.

3. John Bateman hit a career-high 17 homers in 131 games - 120 starting at catcher - for Houston in 1966.

PREDICTION: White Sox 11, Astros 0

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
