Houston @ Seattle preview

Safeco Field

Last Meeting ( Sep 2, 2015 ) Seattle 8, Houston 3

The Houston Astros continue their bid for a playoff spot when they open a crucial three-game series against the host Seattle Mariners on Monday. Houston holds a one-half game lead over the Los Angeles Angels for the American League's second wild-card spot, but each of its final six contests are on the road.

The Astros are a dismal 29-46 on the road, which has hindered their chances of winning the AL West. Houston was overtaken by Texas, which it trails by 2 1/2 games in the division race despite winning two of three against the Rangers over the weekend. Seattle has dropped five straight games to clinch its fifth losing campaign in six years, while Houston has wrapped up its first winning season since 2008. Mariners slugger Nelson Cruz is tied with Baltimore's Chris Davis for the major-league home run lead with 43 but has gone deep just once in his last 10 games.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
