Colorado @ Arizona preview
Chase Field
Last Meeting ( Sep 24, 2012 ) Arizona 2, Colorado 4
The Colorado Rockies attempt to find their offense and end their road losing streak as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of the season-ending three-game series for both National League West teams. Colorado has dropped nine in a row on the road, including a 7-1 defeat in Los Angeles on Sunday. The Rockies scored a total of one run in the three-game set and had gone 26 consecutive innings without crossing the plate until Andrew Brown led off the fourth on Sunday with his fifth home run.
Arizona failed to complete a three-game home sweep of the Chicago Cubs, dropping a 7-2 decision Sunday. Second baseman Aaron Hill went 1-for-3 in the loss, raising his season hits total to 180 - the fifth-highest single-season total in franchise history. The Diamondbacks have won nine of their last 14, scoring at least six runs in eight of the victories and three or fewer in four of the five losses.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Drew Pomeranz (2-9, 5.01 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Wade Miley (16-11, 3.32)
Pomeranz is hoping to finish with his first winning streak of the season. The 23-year-old posted his first victory since July 6 on Wednesday, when he scattered three hits over five scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs to halt a personal six-game losing skid. Pomeranz, who lost his season debut to Arizona on April 15, escaped with a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Sept. 21 after surrendering four runs over three frames.
Miley suffered his second loss in three starts Wednesday as he yielded four runs - three earned - in four innings at San Francisco. The 25-year-old Rookie of the Year candidate has struggled down the stretch, allowing three or more runs in each of his last six outings. Miley improved to 4-0 lifetime against the Rockies despite giving up five runs and 10 hits in six frames at Coors Field on Sept. 21.
WALK-OFFS
1. Miley's 16 victories ties him with Colorado's Jason Jennings (2002) for the most by an NL rookie since 1986.
2. Rockies OF Rafael Ortega had an eventful major-league debut Sunday as he singled twice, walked, was hit by a pitch and stole a base.
3. Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt has missed three straight games with a sore back.
