Arizona @ Los Angeles preview
Dodger Stadium
Last Meeting ( Sep 10, 2013 ) Arizona 3, LA Dodgers 5
Two of the top young left-handers in the National League square off when the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game series. Arizona's Patrick Corbin won 12 of his first 13 decisions this season but has won only twice since the All-Star break. The 24-year-old Corbin will be opposed by fellow 13-game winner Hyun-Jin Ryu, who has played an integral role's in Los Angeles' surge to the top of the National League West.
Winning the division is a mere formality for the Dodgers, who reduced their magic number to six after Tuesday's 11-inning walk-off victory. Los Angeles is ensuring the Diamondbacks will not be a part of the postseason, beating them five straight times to drop Arizona nine games behind Cincinnati for the second wild card. The Diamondbacks, who play Los Angeles five more times in the next nine days, have lost three straight to fall to .500 for the first time since the second game of the season.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks LH Patrick Corbin (13-6, 2.97 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Hyun-Jin Ryu (13-5, 3.02)
Corbin has lost three straight starts and is 1-5 over his last eight outings, although he pitched better last time out against San Francisco. He went eight innings and gave up three runs but received zero support as Arizona was victimized by a near-perfect game from Yusmeiro Petit. Corbin blanked Los Angeles on three hits over six innings on April 12, but was knocked around for four runs in five innings exactly two months later.
Ryu has been idle since Aug. 30 after his last start was scratched due to back stiffness. He halted a two-start skid that day by limiting San Diego to one run over 6 1/3 innings to improve to 6-2 over his last eight outings. Although Ryu is 1-0 in three starts versus the Diamondbacks in his rookie campaign, he has had his struggles with Arizona, giving up 11 runs and 24 hits over 17 innings.
WALK-OFFS
1. Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez is 10-for-17 over his last four games.
2. Arizona has played 75 extra innings this season, one shy of the major-league record set in 1969.
3. Dodgers CF Andre Ethier is 1-for-11 with five strikeouts against Corbin.
PREDICTION: Dodgers 3, Diamondbacks 2
