Last Meeting ( Sep 23, 2012 ) Miami 2, NY Mets 3

The Miami Marlins look to snap a seven-game losing streak against the New York Mets when the teams begin their season-ending series on Monday. Miami, which has lost 21 of its last 29 games overall, is 4-11 against the Mets this season. At 73-86, the Mets have eclipsed last year’s loss total and ensured their most losses since a 70-92 record in 2009. Miami infielder Donovan Solano, who enters the series with a 10-game hitting streak, posted a .314 average (32-for-102) with 13 runs scored, two home runs and 13 RBIs in September.

With both teams long removed from postseason contention, the series is drawing national attention only because the Marlins are giving Adam Greenberg a one-day contract that will allow him to bat in Tuesday’s game. Greenberg, 31, will be making his first appearance in the majors since being hit in the head while making his major league debut as a pinch-hitter for the Chicago Cubs on July 9, 2005. Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is scheduled to start Tuesday’s contest.

Johnson is 3-7 in 12 starts since July 23 despite limiting opponents to three or fewer runs in all but one of the outings, including Wednesday when he allowed three runs (two earned) over six innings against the Braves. Johnson is 8-2 with a 2.58 in 17 career starts against the Mets, and he’s 0-1 with a 2.18 ERA in three starts this season.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
