Jorge De La Rosa could become the first 17-game winner in the National League - and reach a career high for victories - when the Colorado Rockies visit the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. De La Rosa has battled a thumb injury on his pitching hand since June 17, but that hasn't prevented him from recording what should wind up being the best of his 10 seasons. "It's bad. But I can work through it," said De La Rosa, who has won six straight starts. "The only thing that's going to help it is the offseason.''

De La Rosa will have to pitch another strong game if he is to help Colorado buck a trend. The Rockies have lost six of their seven games in San Francisco this season - and are 55-113 all-time in the City by the Bay - following a 3-2 loss in 10 innings Monday. The Giants welcomed back catcher Buster Posey, who missed the previous four games because of a fractured right ring finger but made an immediate impact with a solo home run in his first at-bat.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies LH Jorge De La Rosa (16-6, 3.31 ERA) vs. Giants RH Ryan Vogelsong (3-5, 5.62)

De La Rosa - who suffered the injury while throwing a curveball and aggravated it bunting - has done far better at home in hitter-friendly Coors Field, where he is 10-1 with a 2.76 ERA. The 32-year-old is 8-4 with a 3.60 ERA in 18 games (15 starts) against San Francisco, including 3-3 with a 2.83 ERA in eight outings (seven starts) at AT&T Park. De La Rosa cooled off the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday when he yielded two runs in six innings of Colorado's 7-5 victory.

Vogelsong is 5-1 with a 2.68 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 12 games (seven starts) against Colorado. The 36-year-old allowed four runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings of a 4-2 loss to Arizona on Thursday to snap a six-start unbeaten streak (2-0) in which he compiled a 2.52 ERA. Vogelsong has struggled at home with a 2-3 mark and 5.19 ERA in nine starts this season, but yielded two hits in eight shutout innings against Pittsburgh at AT&T Park three starts back.

WALK-OFFS

1. Washington's Jordan Zimmermann also has 16 wins and faces the New York Mets on Tuesday in a 7:10 p.m. ET start.

2. San Francisco, which tied Monday's game on Brandon Belt's double in the eighth inning and won it on Belt's single in the 10th, improved to 7-59 when trailing after seven innings.

3. Colorado 2B DJ LeMahieu extended his career-high hitting streak to 11 games and is hitting .391 during that stretch.
