Los Angeles @ Arizona preview

Chase Field

Last Meeting ( Sep 16, 2013 ) LA Dodgers 1, Arizona 2

The Los Angeles Dodgers are about to win the National League West, but the Arizona Diamondbacks would prefer the celebration take place somewhere other than Chase Field. The Dodgers' magic number to clinch the division stands at four heading into Tuesday’s contest, and Los Angeles needs to win two of the series' final three games to secure their first division crown since 2009. “We’re putting the stop sign up and we’re going to try to do our best not to have them have a (champagne) shower here,” said Arizona outfielder Adam Eaton.

The Dodgers have lost four straight and nine of their last 12 games, but they’ve also been starting new arrivals such as Nick Buss and Alex Castellanos while waiting for several injured stars to return. Shortstop Hanley Ramirez (back) and outfielders Andre Ethier (ankle) and Carl Crawford (back) are expected to return later this week, and outfielder Matt Kemp was activated from the disabled list prior to Monday’s 2-1 loss. Kemp struck out as a pinch hitter in the ninth in his first plate appearance since July 21.

Corbin snapped a streak of three straight losses last Wednesday, when he yielded one run over 6 1/3 innings against the Dodgers. The 24-year-old is 8-2 with a 2.21 ERA in 15 home starts, but he’s winless at Chase Field since beating the Cubs on July 23. He’s 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA in three starts this season against Los Angeles.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
