Last Meeting ( Mar 27, 2018 ) Seattle 5, Colorado 3

Two hot teams square off on Friday as the Colorado Rockies visit the Seattle Mariners for the opener of their three-game interleague series. Seattle has prevailed in nine of its last 10 contests while Colorado has won six of its last seven games.

The Mariners are a stellar 30-15 at home after Thursday's 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels and stand 24 games above .500. Dee Gordon, Jean Segura and Guillermo Heredia each recorded two hits and an RBI against the Angels while Chris Herrmann belted a solo homer. The Rockies allowed just three runs during a three-game home sweep of San Francisco to move a game above the .500 mark. Colorado star Nolan Arenado (22 homers, 63 RBIs) is on a tear with nine blasts and 21 RBIs over his last 15 contests.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH German Marquez (6-8, 5.14 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Felix Hernandez (8-6, 5.11)

Marquez was superb in a victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in his last turn as he gave up one run and two hits with a season-high nine strikeouts over eight innings. The 23-year-old never has lost in July as he went 4-0 with a 3.51 ERA in five starts during the month last season. Marquez is limiting opposing batters to a .194 average in eight road starts while going 4-3 with a 2.76 ERA.

Hernandez has won back-to-back starts after going winless over his previous three outings. The 32-year-old is 4-3 both at home and on the road, but his ERA at Safeco Field (3.81) is much lower than his away mark of 6.65. Hernandez was victorious in his lone career start against the Rockies on Aug. 3, 2015, when he allowed four runs and 11 hits over 6 2/3 innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mariners RF Mitch Haniger (knee) was a late scratch on Thursday and will be re-evaluated on Friday.

2. Colorado RHP Bryan Shaw (calf) is slated to start a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

3. Seattle placed Mike Zunino (ankle) on the 10-day disabled list, recalled fellow C David Freitas from Triple-A Tacoma and released LHP Ariel Miranda (29 starts for the Mariners in 2017, one this season) from the same affiliate.

PREDICTION: Mariners 4, Rockies 3

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
