Last Meeting ( Jul 10, 2018 ) Washington 5, Pittsburgh 1

The Washington Nationals have an opportunity to build some momentum heading into the All-Star break as they look to turn around what has been a disappointing first half. The Nationals’ last five games before the break are against losing teams, beginning with the rubber match of a three-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.

The Nationals have lost 10 of their last 15 games and averaged two runs in the defeats while totaling 57 runs in the five wins. They evened the series with a 5-1 win Tuesday to move back above .500, but they remain 5 1/2 games behind Philadelphia in the National League East. Pittsburgh has lost six of its last eight and was held without an extra-base hit Tuesday for the ninth time this season. Washington has won five of six in the season series.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
