NEW YORK -- Dennis Schroder scored 24 points and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Brooklyn Nets 114-102 Saturday afternoon.
Schroder reached 20 points for the 12th time by shooting 11 of 24 and adding six assists. He also enjoyed a significantly better showing than his last game in Brooklyn, during which the point guard scored 17 on 5 of 22 shooting and injured his leg in the fourth quarter.
Luke Babbitt added a season-high 20 points to lead a second unit that produced 56 points. He finished four shy of his career high and scored at least 20 points for the fifth time in his career.
DeAndre Bembry added 12 and rookie Isaiah Taylor contributed 11 as the Hawks improved to 5-17 by shooting 47.5 percent and scoring 56 points in the paint.
Spencer Dinwiddie led the Nets with 15 points while Joe Harris added 13. Allen Crabbe contributed 12 after missing the previous three games with a back injury, Jarrett Allen had 12 and Rondae-Hollis Jefferson finished with nine after missing the previous two games with a sprained right ankle.
The Hawks led for the final 36:28 and shook off Brooklyn runs throughout the game before pulling away down the stretch. They held a 54-45 lead at halftime and an 81-75 edge going into the fourth.
Brooklyn appeared like it might finally complete a comeback when Allen's layup made it 90-88 with 8:11 remaining. The Hawks countered with a 14-3 run capped by Kent Bazemore's uncontested corner 3-pointer with 5:44 remaining.
NOTES: Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said the two to three weeks that rookie F-C John Collins (left AC joint sprain) will miss is about what he expected. Collins injured his shoulder during Thursday's 121-114 loss to Cleveland. ... Brooklyn coach Kenny Atkinson said the sore lower back that caused G Allen Crabbe to miss the previous three games were spasms and not a structural issue. ... G Jeremy Lin announced Friday in an Instagram video that he will rehab his surgically repaired right knee at Fortius Sport & Health in Burnaby, British Columbia. "The Nets and I have decided on a really comprehensive rehab program that will have me out here for most of the season," Lin said in the video. ... C Miles Plumlee made his first start with Atlanta and 134th in his six-year career. He finished with six points and seven rebounds in 19 minutes.
