NEW YORK -- Jusuf Nurkic totaled 29 points and 15 rebounds, including the tiebreaking 3-point play with 27.6 seconds remaining, as the Portland Trail Blazers made the plays down the stretch and held on for a 127-125 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
Nurkic recorded his fifth double-double of the season by shooting 12 of 19 from the floor but made the biggest basket of the game for Portland, which shot 50 percent.
The game was tied at 123-123 with 38 seconds on a basket by Spencer Dinwiddie, but Nurkic's hustle under the rim restored the lead for Portland. He scored off a wild scramble under the basket and converted the subsequent free throw for a 126-123 lead.
Nurkic's foul shot proved even more significant when Dinwiddie cut to the hoop for a layup with 15.7 seconds remaining. The Blazers took a 127-125 lead when CJ McCollum split a pair at the line with 11.4 seconds remaining.
The Nets missed a chance to tie or regain the lead when Dinwiddie missed a 3-pointer with four seconds to go but Nurkic missed two free throws with two seconds left. After he fouled DeMarre Carroll with eight-tenths of a second left, the game ended when Joe Harris attempted a long 3 that would not have counted.
Damian Lillard led Portland with 34 points but missed all four of his shots in the fourth. McCollum added 26 for Portland, which set a season high in points.
Dinwiddie scored 23 to lead eight players in double figures for the Nets, who lost for the 10th time in 13 games despite playing eight in double figures and shooting 50 percent. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 18 while reserve Caris LeVert contributed 14.
After Lillard's 3-pointer with one second left in the third forged a 92-92 deadlock into the fourth, neither team was able to get more than a six-point lead.
The Nets took a 121-115 lead with 2:20 remaining on a drive by Crabbe. The Trail Blazers were within 121-120 on a drive by McCollum with 1:15 lead and took a 123-121 lead on a 3-point play by Shabazz Napier with 55.5 seconds remaining.
