Luka Doncic poured in 29 points and Kyrie Irving scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half as the visiting Dallas Mavericks improved to 6-1 with a 117-102 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday night.
Tim Hardaway Jr. added 21 points for Dallas, which trailed by as many as 15 points in the second quarter before turning in a dominant second half. Grant Williams had 13 points and Dereck Lively II added 10.
Paolo Banchero scored 22 points to lead Orlando. Moe Wagner and Cole Anthony had 19 points apiece off the bench, Franz Wagner scored 12, and Jalen Suggs contributed 10 points and seven assists.
Dallas trailed by 13 at the half before outscoring the Magic 33-17 in the third quarter. Hardaway scored nine points in the period.
Orlando missed its first 13 3-point attempts in the second half before Anthony's trey cut Dallas' lead to 98-95 with 6:27 remaining in the game.
The Mavericks pushed their lead to 14 points with 1:52 left on consecutive 3-pointers by Irving and Doncic. Irving finished with a game-high 10 assists.
Orlando controlled much of the first half after moving ahead 21-19 late in the opening quarter.
Banchero had 16 points in the first half to lead Orlando, which took a 66-53 lead into the break. Doncic paced the Mavericks with 17 points.
The Magic held a 34-14 advantage on points in the paint in the first half while shooting 59.1 percent from the field and 7-of-11 (63.6 percent) from 3-point range.
Doncic exited with 7:17 left in the third quarter (concussion protocol) and the Mavericks trailing by eight.
With Doncic in the locker room, Dallas used a 14-2 run to move ahead 77-76 late in the third quarter.
Doncic returned to action for the start of the fourth quarter and helped the Mavericks take control in the final minutes.
Orlando played without Wendell Carter Jr. (fractured finger), Markelle Fultz (left knee swelling), Gary Harris (strained right groin) and Jonathan Isaac (sore hamstring).
