SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Ty Lawson scored 22 points, handed out 12 assists and grabbed 11 rebounds in what may have been his final home game with Sacramento, and the Kings blew out the Phoenix Suns 129-104 on Tuesday night at the Golden 1 Center.
Rookie Buddy Hield led Sacramento with a game-high 30 points, complementing Lawson's first career triple-double, and Sacramento (32-49) concluded the debut season in its new arena by beating Phoenix for the third time in four meetings.
Sacramento's 11th straight season without a playoff spot has been ensured for weeks now, and coach Dave Joerger has provided significant minutes to many of the team's younger players down the stretch.
Lawson, the primary backup to starting point guard Darren Collison, was averaging 9.7 points and 4.7 assists in 25 minutes entering play Tuesday. He reached the triple-double with a rebound off a Ronnie Price miss with 6:25 left and received a standing ovation.
Collison and Lawson both will be unrestricted free agents after the season, along with forward Tyreke Evans. Collison (migraine) sat out the home finale, along with Evans (rest) and center Kosta Koufos (rest).
The Suns (24-58) finished their season with the Western Conference's worst record and seemed to have no desire to improve their position in the finale. Rookie Devin Booker, the team's leading scorer at 22.1 points per game, was held out for rest, as was center Tyson Chandler.
Tyler Ulis scored 27 points to pace Phoenix, and Sacramento native Marquese Chriss, traded by the Kings for Skal Labissiere and Georgios Papagiannis after all three were picked in June's draft, totaled 22.
Labissiere scored 12 points for Sacramento, and Papagiannis, Willie Cauley-Stein and Ben McLemore each scored 13.
