DALLAS -- George Hill poured in 21 points Friday night to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 93-88 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at American Airlines Center.
The key basket came when Hill grabbed an offensive rebound following a missed shot by Randolph and scored to put the Kings (1-1) ahead 91-86 with 16.4 seconds remaining.
Besides Hill, Sacramento got 13 points and six rebounds from Zach Randolph and 13 points from Buddy Hield.
Harrison Barnes paced the Mavericks (0-2) with 24 points, Dorian Finney-Smith and Yogi Ferrell each scored 14 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 10 points.
The Mavs played without rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who has a left knee effusion.
Dallas built a 38-26 lead with 6:33 remaining in the second quarter after Ferrell fired up a 3-pointer. But the Kings ended the half on a 20-8 run. Three-point shots by De'Aaron Fox, Garrett Temple and Hill fueled the Sacramento comeback, with Hill's 3-pointer coming with one second left in the first half.
The Kings continued their rally in the third quarter when they outscored the Mavs 25-14 and carried a 71-60 lead into the fourth quarter. Sacramento also battered the Mavs on the boards, winning by a 57-36 margin.
NOTES: Mavs rookie G Dennis Smith Jr. missed Friday's game against the Sacramento Kings with a left knee effusion. ... Mavs G Devin Harris is out indefinitely after his brother was killed in a car accident in north Dallas. ... The Kings made it official and hired Jenny Boucek on Friday as an assistant player development coach. She worked with the Kings throughout training camp and the preseason. Boucek also was an assistant coach when the Seattle Storm captured the WNBA titles in 2004 and '10, and was the Storm's head coach from 2015-17. In addition, in over two years coaching the Sacramento Monarchs from 2007-09, Boucek posted a 40-41 record. ... Sacramento F Zach Randolph replaced F Skal Labissiere in the starting lineup against the Mavs. Randolph sat out the Kings' regular-season opener against Houston after undergoing oral surgery. In the 105-100 loss to Houston, Labissiere produced 12 points, 10 rebounds and a game-high five turnovers.
