NEW YORK -- Spencer Dinwiddie scored a career-high 22 points and hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 43 seconds remaining as the Brooklyn Nets overcame a triple-double by LeBron James and defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 112-107 on Wednesday.
Dinwiddie made his 20th career start and first in place of D'Angelo Russell (right knee sprain). He shot 7-for-13, with his biggest basket coming after the Nets blew a 12-point lead.
James played point guard for the second straight night and totaled 29 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. He also committed eight turnovers, two shy of his career worst.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Allen Crabbe added 19 points apiece for the Nets, who made 17 of 46 3-point attempts (37 percent). DeMarre Carroll spent time defending James and chipped in 18 points.
Kyle Korver added 22 points for the Cavaliers, who committed 21 turnovers. Jeff Green added 18 points while Kevin Love totaled 15 points and 12 rebounds.
The Cavaliers (3-2) held a 104-103 lead after Love split a pair of free throws with 63 seconds remaining. After the Nets made several passes to, Dinwiddie spotted up from the top of the key and gave the Nets a 106-104 lead.
The Nets (3-2) took a 108-104 advantage on their next possession on a basket by Hollis-Jefferson, but Korver hit a catch-and-shoot 3-pointer off an inbounds play with 25 seconds remaining to make it 108-107.
After Brooklyn missed three of four free throws in a span of seven seconds, the Cavaliers had a chance to tie it at 109, but James missed two free throws with seven seconds left.
Carroll split a pair of free throws with 4.1 seconds left, giving Cleveland a chance to tie. Carroll got a piece of the inbounds pass intended for James with three seconds to go, and following a replay review by officials, Brooklyn regained possession. Dinwiddie clinched the win at the foul line with 2.8 seconds remaining.
The Nets held a 92-81 lead on a hoop by rookie Jarrett Allen with 8:49 left, but Cleveland scored the next 13 points, highlighted by a windmill dunk by James.
