NEW YORK -- Tobias Harris scored 12 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter as the Detroit Pistons rallied from a 21-point first-half deficit to defeat the New York Knicks 111-107 on Saturday night.
Harris came within three of his career high set Feb. 6, 2015 versus the Los Angeles Lakers by making 13 of 24 shots. He converted 5 of 6 attempts in the final quarter, including a nifty spinning basket through traffic with 44 seconds remaining to give Detroit a 107-104 lead.
Andre Drummond added 21 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season as Detroit outscored New York 60-43 after halftime and withstood a big night from Kristaps Porzingis.
Porzingis led all scorers with 33 points for his fifth career game with at least 30 points and came within two of his career high set last November versus Detroit. Porzingis scored 21 in the first half when New York led by 21 in the second quarter before settling for a 13-point lead at halftime.
Detroit guard Reggie Jackson added 16 points, including the tiebreaking three-point play with 1:41 left and two free throws with eight seconds left. Those free throws proved even more vital when Tim Hardaway Jr. hit a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining, but two free throws by Avery Bradley with 3.1 seconds left clinched the win.
Enes Kanter added 17 points and 10 rebounds for New York while Kyle O'Quinn chipped in 15. Hardaway shot 4 of 16 and contributed 14 points as New York dropped to 0-2.
Before starting its comeback late in the second quarter, Detroit trailed by 21 with 3:41 remaining before halftime.
NOTES: G Frank Ntilikina (sprained left ankle) did not play after getting hurt going for a rebound during New York's practice Friday. Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek said Ntilikina could move from side to side and is hopeful the rookie will be available for Tuesday's game in Boston. ... Asked about Detroit's foul troubles in its first two games, coach Stan Van Gundy said with a bit of sarcasm: "You don't have to earn the respect of officials. They're not interested in status and we all know that." ... Detroit C Eric Moreland was inactive after being the backup for C Andre Drummond in the first two games.
