CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Malik Monk got hot at the start of the fourth quarter, hitting four 3-pointers and a jumper in the first four minutes, and the Charlotte Hornets beat the Milwaukee Bucks 126-121 on Wednesday night at the Spectrum Center.
Monk's performance allowed the Hornets to break an 88-88 tie after three quarters to jump out to a 108-95 lead, and they were in front the rest of the way.
The rookie guard finished with 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 from 3-point range. He wound up with 18 points in the fourth quarter.
The Hornets (5-3) won their third straight and avenged a 103-94 loss to in Milwaukee on Oct. 23.
Kemba Walker led Charlotte with 26 points.
The Hornets also got 17 points and 11 rebounds from Dwight Howard, 16 points from Jeremy Lamb, 15 points from Marvin Williams, 11 from Frank Kaminsky, and 10 from rookie Dwayne Bacon.
The Bucks (4-4) lost their second straight despite getting a career-high 43 points from Khris Middleton.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, who came into the game as the NBA's leading scorer at 33.8 points per game, fought foul trouble much of the night and finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds in 32 minutes. He shot 5 of 16 from the field.
Malcolm Brogdon scored 20 points, Tony Snell 17, and Mirza Teletovic 12 for Milwaukee.
The Bucks led by 10 in the first quarter and were up 32-25 after one quarter. They pushed the lead to 10 again in the second quarter before Walker led a Charlotte rally, and the Hornets were on top 60-57 at halftime. Walker had 20 points at the break.
Monk opened the fourth quarter with an 18-footer on the Hornets' first possession, snapping a tie, and then he hit four consecutive 3-pointers as the crowd went crazy.
NOTES: Milwaukee changed its starting lineup with C John Henson getting his first start of the season and C Thon Maker coming off the bench. ... The Hornets were without G Nicolas Batum (sprained left elbow), G Michael Carter-Williams (knee soreness), and G Julyan Stone (strained left hamstring). ... The Bucks were without C Greg Monroe (left calf strain) and F Jabari Parker (left knee surgery). ... Hornets C Dwight Howard has dropped back into second in the NBA in rebounding at 15.0 per game. ... The Hornets will now head out on a four-game road trip starting Friday at San Antonio. They also will face Minnesota, New York and Boston on the trip. ... The Bucks were opening a three-game road trip. They will play at Detroit on Friday and then will go on to Cleveland.
