Remy Martin and Jaelen House had 20 points and three 3-pointers apiece and Romello White had 11 points and seven rebounds to help the host Arizona State Sun Devils surge to a 92-55 victory over the Rider Broncs on Sunday.
Junior college transfer Alonzo Verge Jr. had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Sun Devils (2-1), who were never challenged after closing the first half on a 39-12 run.
Stevie Jordan had 15 points, Dimencio Vaughn had eight points and 10 rebounds and Christian Ings had 10 points for the Broncs (2-1), who committed 29 turnovers, the most by an opponent in coach Bobby Hurley's four seasons at Arizona State.
The Sun Devils sank nine 3-pointers and had 40 bench points while gradually building the lead to the final margin.
Martin and Verge had four steals apiece and House, son of former Arizona State and NBA player Eddie House, had two. The Sun Devils scored 30 points off the Broncs' turnovers. Arizona State had only seven turnovers.
Rider shot 38.3 percent and had a slim 47-45 rebounding advantage but could not overcome its mistakes. Arizona State shot 42.7 percent.
Tyere Marshall (seven points) scored four points and Scott and Jordan had 3-pointers when Rider jumped to a 12-4 lead six minutes into the game before Arizona State went on 13-0 run built on 3-pointers by Elias Valtonen and Taeshan Cherry gave the Sun Devils a lead they never lost.
Marshall, a 6-foot-9 senior, had seven points on 3-of-5 shooting. He made 13 of 15 field-goal attempts in his first two games and entered the game leading NCAA Division I with an 86.7 percentage.
Martin had 11 points including 3-pointer and House had 10 points and a trey in the first half to 10 in to push the Sun Devils to a 43-24 halftime lead.
