Senior guard Samir Doughty scored 20 points to lead four other players in double figures as No. 19 Auburn rolled to a surprisingly easy 91-62 victory over Patriot League favorite Colgate on Monday night at Auburn in the second campus game of the Legends Classic.
Guard J'Von McCormick backed up Doughty with 14 points and eight assists while center Austin Wiley recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers (5-0), who led from the opening seconds on.
Forwards Danjel Purifoy and Isaac Okoro scored 11 each as the Tigers shot at least 50 percent (53.0) from the field for the third time in five games.
Guard Jordan Burns scored 18 points to lead the Raiders (1-3), who trailed by 32 points at halftime and by as many as 45 points in the second half on their way to a third consecutive loss. Forward Rapolas Ivanauskas with 12 points was the only other Raider in double figures.
The Tigers jumped out in front 7-0 on their way to a 15-2 advantage less than four minutes into the game. They continued to roll from there, doubling up the Raiders at 22-11 by the second media timeout at the 11:54 mark.
Auburn held its first 20-point plus lead at 38-17 with 4:31 left in the opening period, and the gap reached 30 points at 51-21 with 30 seconds remaining in the half. Okoro's dunk with 27 seconds left made the halftime score 53-21.
The Tigers were a remarkable 16 of 25 (64.0 percent) from the field while making 8 of their 15 tries from behind the 3-point arc in the first half while the Raiders struggled at 29.0 percent (9 of 31). They hit half of their 34 attempts in the second half to finish the game at 40.0 percent (26 of 65).
